Today’s post comes from my friend, Stacey, she is sharing from her heart about those days when we feel defeated. Take a few minutes and let her sweet words encourage you.
Not so long ago I had embarked on my first ever social media prayer group / schedule. A 21 day prayer warrior journey designed for Mothers of boys. Praying specific prayers / scriptures over issues and life challenges that our boys really do face every day! Only God knew then how much I would need these prayers, then and now! It has been an amazing group, and it has also opened me up to some really wonderful ladies in an online world! Since then, I think we’ve gone through the 21 days together two or three times. And I personally have done it an additional time on my own. Many of us have posted prayer requests, and have already seen God moving! It truly wouldn’t hurt for e to cycle through it every twenty one days.
But this specific time; my first time, I quickly felt defeated. Why? Because I had fallen behind. Here the group was moving on to day ten, and I was only on day four.…I would have possibly only have been a day or 2 behind, but as soon as a fell back just a bit. I opened that door for Satan to cast doubt upon me. Telling me I had failed, to give up, I wasn’t good enough to be a part of this! I allowed him to whisper lies into my ear, and through to my heart.
During this time of my struggle, Brooke (the author) had posted about her own struggles, trials, and yes even failures during the very 21 day event. The same 21 day prayer challenge that SHE designed!!
What???? …..You mean other people fail too? (yes, when you’re down…you really think that only you fail) So I began to tell myself, “If SHE can fall behind or fail, even if only for a moment, and STILL be used by God, then SO CAN I!!!!
This wasn’t just an eye opener for me during this 21 day challenge alone, it was also a huge eye opener for me in my world of being a multipurpose mom. Who I was in this blogging world, where I was trying to go and what I was doing trying to piece together the plan that God has for me, I often withdrawal from posting my blogs, or stepping out more, or even believing in myself or the call I really do feel God has for my life because I feel that I may have failed in that area or even in other areas.
But God uses failures; He has since the beginning of time. He uses you and He even uses ME! We must be willing to humble ourselves in our broken, cracked places, so that His light can shine through us?
So, I just want to encourage you that when you feel you’ve failed at something. Whether it’s a prayer schedule, parenting, schooling, blogging, whatever the challenge. Don’t give up. I still fail every. Single. Day. But I know that God is working through those failures and my brokenness. And His light; His light is going to shine through and bless others.
Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people Ephesians 6:7
Because really…in all we do, we are serving Him…not people, right?
What do you often feel you’ve failed at, and let stop you from moving forward?
Stacey is a Saved by Grace, God fearing, Bible believing, Child of the King! She and her husband of 15 years have been raising their 5
sons in a small town in Southeast Michigan. In her chaotic world of pursuing Jesus, being a wife, raising 5 boys, working in and out of the home, laundry, dishes, bills, dinner and all that……She is STILL trying to fulfill God’s call in her life…..to share her story, her battles, her triumphs, and testimonies of being a teen mom from a drug addicted home, to being the not so perfect wife and mother she is today to the world! Her prayer is to lift up and encourage others through the words that God lays before her! She writes real, and raw about her life at staceywestbrook.com
