Week in Review 7/9-7/13

In my life this week…

Just doing the wifey, mommy, homeschooling, OB nurse, blogger thing. Love it. Wouldn’t have it any other way.

In our homeschool this week…

We got a little bit behind last week because of the holiday in the middle of the week. What was up with that anyway?? I digress. So we picked it back up and moved on this week.

We are continuing our studies of Indians and Pilgrims.
In Science, we have started learning about the solar system.
Moving right along in Math. Test number two was a breeze.
Spelling continues to be a review.
I’m thinking we need to focus on handwriting more. I’m not sure if it’s a coordination thing or just laziness, but it drives this mama crazy.
In Bible, we’ve learned our first memory verse, John 8:12 and are learning about Jesus being the light of the world.
We are loving the I Can Do All Things Art Curriculum from My Father’s World. Even I am learning to draw (more than just stick figures!)
Nevaeh has a new found love for the Frog and Toad series and Shaylie is hooked on Amelia Bedelia. I remember reading these books as a child. I’m so glad they enjoy them too.

Helpful homeschool tips or advice to share…

This year, I am realizing the importance of spending time with each child individually during school hour. It allows me the opportunity to determine each child’s strengths and weaknesses.

My favorite thing this week was…

Date night with my hubby! On Monday evening, we went to dinner and a book store. It has been much too long since we’ve had a date night and I enjoyed it so much.
